Fifty- Two Years

Created by Susan 3 years ago

Fifty-two years of thoughts and memories are running through my mind today. Flashing through like an old film reel.

I see you standing in front of the class telling us about some songs we're going to be singing on the school stage. 3D singing on the school stage !! we were the dunces, the no-hopers but you fought our corner and sing we did.

You were there for me through the rest of my angst=ridden years and beyond.

When the teacher/pupil relationship finally disappeared we were friends on an equal footing (although you were always in charge) :)

Jim and I got married in Leicester in 1989 with you as my bridesmaid. You came to visit often and became honourary (fairy) godmother to Katie and Hannah.

The girls have very happy memories of the fun and laughter you always brought with you. A particular memory of you trying to get the girls saying " red lorry, yellow lorry" springs to mind.

There were times when we didn't see eye to eye and didn't speak for some time but we always kept the door open and managed to find our way back.

In the last couple of years we had a shared experience of cancer and were able to help each other through some difficult times. Our friendship was deeper and more treasured because of this.

You're caring and kindness to an eleven year old girl all those years ago helped me become the person I am today.

Rest in peace Pamela.
