My Scottish Pal and work colleague

I had the pleasure of meeting Pam in 2000 when I started at Abington High School as Head of Music. I received a warm welcome and she was a superb support in the early months. I discovered that she was passionate about Scottish dance and that she ran an inclusive club for pupils at lunchtimes. Not only did she teach pupils dance sets she provided Scottish sashes etc for performances. I included her dances in concerts during the time I worked with her.

When Pam discovered that I played the violin, she encouraged me to play for her Ceilidh Band which I eventually did. We travelled all over the Midalnds and even ventured as far as Durham for what was to be a very short performance 45 minutes. As usual, Pam saw the positive side to this trip having had a meal and overnight stay at my brother's house. She felt she had a "Wee trip away and enjoyed being chauffeured!".

We continued to meet up over coffee to catch up. Unfortuately, Covid prevented us meeting up  which meant I hadn't seen her for nearly a year. She was the most wonderful lady who put her heart and soul in all her interests. I will miss her so much.

May you rest in peace Pam.
